Hi here,its now 2009 and i'll be turning 24 this year.It has been a wonderful year so far. God has been faithful, standing by me all this while, helping me to let go of the past hurts from the relationship saga and forgive Deborah even though she does not want to speak to me anymore.Thus, i have resolved to not communicating to her at all and i will keep my word which means that i will need to return her the money by some other means..no worries, i will just kiv it, repay my parents' cpf then save up and return her the amount in one lump sum..yup, that will not happen anytime soon.I thank God for the following people: my family,joey,nelson,uncle raymond,han chen...especially these few who have contributed so much to my life. recently, i thank God for the opportunity to catch up with some of the youths that used to be under wsc.it was really great spending time with them playing dota and helping them manage the kids in character class..thank you God for such wonderful youths who are jewels in your sight.i also recently read a bit of the book my brother nelson gave to me for my birthday(thanks bro) and realised maybe once again that leadership is not about position, its about the influence you have on the lives of others. And i finally had the opportunity to catch up with my brother daniel. for the time being, i will be concentrating on learning tennis,as well as my walk with God and my family.time to do some planning.thats all for now folks

Hi again,just a few updates..i thank God for helping me finish my essay assignment ahead of time..had been staying up very late to work on it for the last 3 weeks or so..caught up with quite a few friends this month,my former sec school classmates(after 8 yrs or so for most of them),my former sp classmates.my ns squadron mates and my sp dg mates.other things that happened-miscommunication with certain project mates(work-in-progress),minor dispute with my aunt(resolved already)...now working on a fixed qt..persevere joel..you can make it.Thank God though,that the healing from the r/s is on-going,though certain issues still crop out from time to time,but this is what i concluded so far-
1.i shouldnt mix around people who like to threaten others
2.such people resort to such means because they are insecure in Christ
3.it is right to voice out your views to make ur position clear to others
4.the guy should always take charge in a r/s and make the final decisions
5.he should always set the visions and the standard for the r/s and not compromise on them
6.he should honor God in every step of the r/s
7.both parties should love each other for who they are and accept each other's shortcomings-not what the other person can be-in line with our expectations
8. both parties should seek to understand and communicate with each other and refrain from using third parties or threats
9.both parties must abstain from physical touch as far as possible
10.Both parties must pray together and for each other
11.Both parties must have r/s mentors
12.integrity is essential in a r/s,dont compromise on your principles even if you are pressured to or persuaded to..the future cost far outweighs the present benefit
...and so on...i believe that God will continue to teach me more as i seek Him

Hi all and welcome to 2009,its been about 7 months and so many things have happened.I want to give thanks for the following things:
1)my cap has improved though i failed a module(materials)
2)a new home in sengkang
3)for being able to catch up with most of my close friends
4)for helping me get over the broken r/s
5)for teaching me wonderful things of His Word
6)for developing my charcter even more(forgiveness,decisiveness,perseverance,trust in God)
yet im trusting God to give me wisdom and hope to accomplish the following within the next few yrs
1)graduate from nus
2)find a job after graduating
3) become a teacher in moe
4)gain a certain level of competency in the study of God's word
5) knowing God even more
6)a consistent and disciplined prayer life
7) get to know my small gp members better
8)disciple my p5 and p6 kids effectively

A month ago, deborah and I broke up over communication problems.Somehow, there are times that I do not answer her questions directly which irks her.Just thinking about it troubles me because i just cant seem to solve the problem and I dont know the causes behind that problem.But anyway, I have decided to let the issue rest.Now, concentrating on recovering emotionally from the break-up.On a positive note, its good to be single again!Yeh, more time for myself although it means less company in the sense that i will miss her.It is definitely a good time to refocus on the passions,goals and ministries that the Lord has placed upon my heart.Lets go on Lord Jesus and save the lost.Thank you for teaching me that no relationship can replace the love you have for me.Thank you for loving me for who i am.

What's wrong with me?Am I such a bad person after all? Life has been TERRIBLE!.I repeat..TERRRIBLE! ever since the end of church camp when i found out that dear doesnt love me for who i am..Feeling TERRIBLY disappointed and betrayed at this moment..after all the time and effort that i have put into this relationship..Why God? Its been a long time since I last updated my blog.I really give thanks to God for all the blessings in my life.couldnt imagine that i would be able to make it this far to nus, being blessed with dear,able to impact the lives of children from dysfunctional families and being able to make and sustain so many friends.Thank you Lord! Lord, words cannot describe how much i appreciate you for being so involved in my life, for caring about me though i constantly neglect you at times.Thank you Jesus, my beloved friend and redeemer.Its been about 20 years or so since you spoke to me and i have never regretted having you as my saviour and Lord and friend,thank you jesus.I remember the time you started speaking to me, the time i started talking to you and the times we spent together-as i read your word and you spoke to me and i complained about so many things..its so wonderful having you to confide in..and for the times i lost my way and you guiding me back, for the times i fell because of my pride and the times you humbled me, the times i struggled with my studies and how you helped me to understand and cope with my subjects, the times when i felt so alone and you comforted me, the times i felt betrayed by others and you were there, and for teaching me how to trust and rely on you, putting you first in everything.Thank you precious jesus.Lord, teach me to trust and obey for there is no other way,but be happy in Jesus, oh to trust and obey.

Im just so glad and relieved that dear decided not to break up with me.To tell you the truth, I part of me was preparing for the worst.She was just tired of working things out and was irritated about certain things that i failed to do, for example, not taking the initiative to buy movie tickets, things that i did not consider important.It was so reassuring to know that she still loves me and appreciates that i have been working on these areas all this while and im glad that she is willing to work things out with me.Both of us admitted that we had communication problems and we were both at fault in certain ways for the deterioration of our relationship, me for not being decisive enough and her for doing things that irritate me.I guess such everything adds up.But i am thankful that this storm is over and to the Lord for the realisation that after all this while,we still love each other.Thanks to all who have been praying for us and to our abba father who has been guiding us all this while.Thank you Lord for meeting our needs and answering our prayers and for teaching us what it means to love each other.Indeed, without you Lord, this relationship would not have survived. I need to rest now..see ya!

i have never blogged so much in my entire life.I just dont know what to do, what to say.Its just so hard to accept the fact that whatever compromises i have made does not help me in the long run, being open and vulnerable..maybe i shouldnt trust others so much? but again, i cant isolate myself from others and the Lord taught us to love one another, to confess our sins to one another.Sad to say, even some christians are guilty of not being true to their brothers and sisters in Christ.Some greetings are just said out of obligation and not out of genuine love and concern.Where is the world going Lord? When are you coming back again?I really dont know Lord, but the world is really in a mess.Non-christians behaving better than fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?Unless you come back Lord, we will still be stuck in this mess.Help me to live a life that is worthy of you.

Still dont even know what to think...will it happen? Im preparing myself mentally for the worse case scenario.Anyway, i thank God for the bitter-sweet moments I have with dear and the truth is i will miss her somehow.i just dont know how to get things across to her when we meet again, though i kind of figured out my thoughts but the emotions seem so unbearable.Help me Lord, in this point of need.Give me wisdom to handle this relationship because i cant handle it myself anymore..the burden is just too great to bear..well then, i managed to bid for my modules today(yesterday, technically i mean).Now, i just need to wake up early to acclimatise my body to schooling once again and exercise plus some revision..cant stress myself too much though..God..help me...

Break up? What do those words mean to you? Unfortunately, they spoiled the first moments of my new year( thanks man)....You never even mentioned that to me earlier...You know, you're not the only person who has feelings..oh well, thank God i got to spend time with Him and my mum..It was so good to be in the presence of the Lord once again and experiencing a close intimacy with Him.I want more of you oh God ...more....Thank you Lord for giving me the passion and the desire to know you once again..fan the flames in me oh God, the passion for your name.Lord, I thank you for such a wonderful family that i can trust..Sometimes, its just so easy to forget what we have been blessed with until they are taken away..Thank you mum and dad, for being there..I love you..You know, its so interesting to know that the Lord is still there and that i can still hear Him speaking..looks like the lesser amount of activities have enabled me to hear His voice better.Well...look on the bright side,at least it isnt a divorce...haha(sighs)..i dont really know what to say except thank you God for being there when i need you..Thanks for being my best friend.We have a lot of talking to do God.

Just spoke to Gladwin about some things that he said to me a few months ago which really affects the way i view him as a brother in Christ.Thank the Lord for such a meaningful conversation and for the opportunity to set things right with my brother in Christ before coming to the Lord and moving on to dear's church.It has been a long time( i think about 6 months ) since i left ym on a bitter-sweet note.It was partly my fault and the Lord's will that i left the ministry.Certain things still bother me though...how the interview went(as though they wanted to get rid of me quickly),...the way Sandy did things( like telling me my flaws at the interview rather than in advance and not making the effort to know me as a person.).Yea, those were the things that bothered( and still continue to bother me).But oh well, the Lord said to forgive and i must learn to forgive as he did(and still does).Got back my results today(or rather yesterday morning,thank you God for bringing me through this semester.though the results were not that great but i still choose to thank you,knowing that my life is still in your hands and that you care for me and also that he who puts his trust in you will never be put to shame.Thank you Lord!

Hurray, its christmas again!As the year comes to a close,I want to thank the Lord for granting me a fruitful year-1) my youths at we-sharecare have finally started to take up leadership positions.2)I finally managed to invite 2 of my friends to my small group outreach.Lord,You are so amazing!I cant relish the thought of not living without you.As for my new year's resolutions, i want to be more decisive and more disciplined in managing my time.that means planning and keeping a time schedule and taking charge of this relationship.Dear, i love you.

exams were a disaster for me.No confidence of passing all my papers except 1.But I still thank God for granting me peace even as i did my papers.Oh well...somehow, i was stunned when Gladwin told me that i havent been responding to his emails about small groups..Pondering about that...yea..its true..i think i've been too lazy to check my emails...guess i have a habbit to change.Anyway, i got my reservist letter stating my posting to SBAB..yeh...im still part of the airforce which also means that i must start to exercise again...Besides all these,this week's been good so far , being able to meet up with dear and arrange appointments with the rest...How i wish that the holidays would be longer..i'll take this time to appreciate my mum before she starts work next yr..i'll miss her...:( and my 2 grandmothers too before they go home to be with the Lord.

Hi all, its me again..life in nus has been Very challenging! such that i need to read up and revise the lectures at every single opportunity.You can call it mugging...but such mugging is essential for my survival here..besides,im not really confident of doing well in nus..sad but true..i guess its still by the grace of God(He provided the opportunity).Really feel sad that time is flying so fast..sometimes, i wish that i was younger so that i can have more free time to hang out with my friends-the time taken to revise the lecture notes and do the tutorials can really eat into my social life(actually,they are..sadly).Ironically, i can finally use the frequent excuse that others like to give me...that they are busy with stuff.Now, its my turn...hahahaha! But on a more serious note,pls keep me in prayer cause i really need God's help in this area!

Hi everyone,uni life has just started for me and i thank God for the refreshing environment,a new schedule,new challenges,new friends and the brothers and sisters in Christ I met in campus.Frankly speaking, this week has been a week of surprises-i got to meet up with one of my crusade friends on tue.Its been quite a few years since we last caught up..haha..and i realised that i only have 1HR of lectures on tue..how wonderful..I never had that sort of stuff when i was studying in sp.Anyway, tomorrow's gonna be a long day for me as im starting lectures at 8am.until then...chao!:)

I know...its been quite some time since i typed my last post.Well,well...let me see... I thank God for being gracious to me for helping me recollect some of the things that i'd learnt in poly inspite of two yrs of mindless activity(ns).Frankly speaking, i think that the nus administrative procedures can be further fine-tuned due to the unnecessary hassle it has cost quite a few of us poly graduates...Oh well,besides that, i changed my hair-style and spectacles...Yeah, and i got to know quite a few people from sp me too...some of them kind of make me feel old cause they are my juniors..haha.I thank you oh Lord,for being so good to me even when i've failed you.Help me love you with all my heart again.Give me that passion for you once more.Lead me into your presence once again.I dont want to leave the house each day without enjoying your presence oh Lord.Never let me go again oh Lord.I dont want to let go of you.Help me live my life for you once more.Lord,teach me to rely on you once again instead of my own strength.I surrender my life into your hands and ask that your Holy Spirit will direct me.Teach me what it means to love you, to serve you and to follow you once again.In Jesus name,amen.Looks like i've got alot of catching up to do with my studies.Until then,tata and may God bless your day ahead.

Its great to be back.Ord-ied for quite some time already.Now working part-time at we-sharecare society for children and youth.It is a challenging,yet a rewarding job,learning to deal with the children-their behaviour,attitudes...etc.I love this job.Will be sad to leave as the time goes by...I guess job satisfaction is present..which is rare because many people in singapore are willing to work in jobs that reward them with great pay but do not satisfy them.Anyway,I will be in this job until August(started in June after ord) when i start my nus semester.Thanks be to God who leads us in His triumph!Thanks be to God who won the victory!

Its been a few weeks since my last post.Anyway,i havent been doing my qt for the last few days.Thank God i managed to read the whole of 1 Tim today.Just started the process of studying it inductively cause it is a book of advice on spiritual leadership.Im trusting the Lord for the discipline to complete my study on this book.Besides this, im embarking on a study on prayer in order to examine and allow God to strengthen my prayer life.Well, time flies very fast and i hope that i will be ready to move on to the next phase of life and embrace the new ministry that i will be moving to.Yup, next yr may be my last yr in ym..from the way things are going and with God's permisssion..of course.Its time to move from discipleship to outreach and prayer cause these are the other gifts and passions that God has entrusted me with(besides teaching and discipleship/mentoring).Oh well, for my beloved youths in Emmanuel,my prayer for you is that you will learn to trust God more with your lives and your time.There is nothing that can substitute the love that God provides in the his church.You may not realise it now but you'll start to reap the rewards much later if you start to invest more into God's kingdom by strengthening and growing the fellowship you have with each other.It will be a pity to see this gp disintegrate after the many yrs we spent together.For those who bother to listern,keep the love flowing and uphold the flame of Christ in your lives.The Christian life is like a marathon:Its good to start well but it is more important that we end well.So for those who are struggling in their walk with God,do not despair.Fight the good fight.Let us press on because we have God and those who went before us cheering us on.We run this race not by ourselves, but as a team- as one body in Christ.Jia You.

Thank God for the wonderful week..Truly, God has allowed me to understand my ns buddies better.One thing though, i allowed myself to blow up at some of them which gave them wrong impressions of me.Somehow, i just need to find a balance between being nice to them and making my stance as an individual.Other things to thank God for-1) helping me decide on whether i should take up a particular job offer( come to think of it,i sounded like an idiot when i first took up the offer even though there were no perks that came with it),2)helping me revise my additional mathematics(its been a long time).Thank You Lord!

Hi people, im back after mia-ing(missing in action) for a few months.Well...time really flies and im coming out of ns(national service) in about 2 months times!Yep,2 MONTHS! oh i'm really looking forward to seeing my pink ic again, especially after 2 yrs of wasted time(to a certain extent) serving the nation and earning peanuts(definitely worse than unskilled foreign workers).Oh well...ns hasnt been that bad...considering the pr(people relation) skills that i learnt there..especially how to cover-up for others and yourself and some technical skills and good habits such as punctuality(which i was very bad at)..Besides that, i also had to adapt to shift work..which will be useful when i enter the work force.I thank God for giving me the privellege to be part of the airforce.Truly, i have benefitted from my 1 plus yr over there.We were treated to some good food as well.Anyway, i hope to get a laptop asap so that i can update this blog more often.As for the photos that i mentioned earlier,sorry but you guys will have to be patient.In my next few posts, i will be sharing about what God has been doing in my life from my time in poly until now.Until then, enjoy the pics.

Hi all, its good to be back again.Its always good to be in the presence of the Lord.I just got back from my personal retreat with the Lord.It was indeed a time of refreshment.I was really encouraged by the Lord from the scripture that i read during that period of time especially during this crucial period of imf when i began to falter under the stressful environment(thank God its over) and stopped doing quiet time.Indeed i thank God for picking me up again by allowing me this additional day of rest when i can just do my own stuff and be with Him.So good to be loved by the Lord.How i wish i could just ord and get out of this pathetic phase of life and move on...But then again, Im sure that God is allowing this for a purpose and i believe is to deal with my pride, my feelings of self-sufficiency(just kind of thought about it) and teaching me to rely on Him rather than me.

Eloz again...its been quite some time since i last wrote or rather say,blogged...For those who are in the dark, I just went through a dark period in my life...was kind of burnt out spiritually and physically a few months back due to ns and ministry but I thank God for helping me get back on my feet again..To those who have prayed or encouraged me in anyway, thanks guys and gals ...:)O ya..i should be adding more pictures..especially regarding april's retreat and my graduation for airforce school.To sum it all up, i went for a retreat with my small gp in april.It was a wonderful time of bonding , r & r and of course, seeking the Lord individually and as a small gp..To all my sg members, a big thank you for making this retreat what it was...though i don usually say such things uprightly in front of so many people in person..now for the photos..

Before i go on posting more photos...i think i should share some of my personal thoughts otherwise this wouldnt be a complete portrait of my life...anyway,who except God would know the struggles of being Joel,having to love my parents inspite of certain things that they do...like leaving me in the lurch and letting me fork out the whole sum to cpf when they agreed that they would cover my poly fees,trying to keep a balance between becoming so nice to others and letting them take advantage of me and being too assertive and self-centred...yup, thats me, the kind soul who quite often gets taken advantage of,not even a single word of thanks and when i start to assert myself,they cant take it and start to ostracise me and backstab me...I have rights too you know

Sometimes, I just don know what to say when my parents tell me to be more assertive when they expect me to follow them to some event that i do not consider important at all...what a disgusting world..thank God that this world is not my home...

As I reflect upon my life,I just want to share about my first mission trip experience.In April 2005,8 of us (2 full-time staff and 6 students) embarked on a three-week long trip to mongolia.
Our aims were to reach out to students from the 3 prestigious national universities in Mongolia,the Mongolian National University,the Mongolian Technical University and the Mongolian Teachers' University.
Besides that, we also hoped to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ to persevere in their faith as materialism creeps into Mongolian society.We were quite surprised when things turned out better than we expected...our Mongolian brothers and sisters were an inspiration as they were bold in proclaiming the gospel.truly, they were not ashamed of the gospel..and their love for one another....truly touches my heart(sobs)...truly they fear God more than we do...
The weather was good(maybe a bit too cold).The food was ok(mutton and beef all day).The taxi rides were cheap(average of 1 us dollar per ride).The accomodation was comparable to what we have in Singapore but what draws me back there is the love and fellowship of my brothers and sisters over there(one of them taught me to play a bit of drums and one of the mongolian traditional instruments)

Hi guys,just came back from retreat.really had a great time with God and my small group members(thanks guys).It was a refreshing time and a good opportunity to let my hair down...singing karaoke and going snorkelling...Indeed i thank God for refreshing my spirit and rejuvenating my mind...Thank YOu God!And to everyone who had a part to play in this retreat,once again thanks for the company and for allowing me to get to know you better.

Today, went to tan tock seng hospital to reassess my asthma.discovered that I am allergic to certain particles in the environment such as dust mites,american cockcroaches(huh?), bed bugs(didnt know that), fungal spores...etc.?I also discovered some things about my mum, about how she started out as a draftsman in the building industry,ventured into building oil rigs,working in a construction consultancy company before ending up in mindef and retiring one year after I was born.It was definitely an insightful lesson to remind me that God can use unfavourable circumstances for our good,to strengthen us and mould us,just like the potter and the clay
